Can I plant young cherry blossom trees now. They are currently in pots which have been soaked with rain and now it is very cold again. Also I have some perennials which have been in pots since last year due to us living in rental property. My instinct is that is warmer in the ground and has better drainage too. I am a little impatient but can't wait to get my naked garden underway

If your soil is waterlogged then leaving a little longer won't hurt. Where are the trees now? If they are somewhere more sheltered than their eventual site then move them to where they can harden off a bit. If the soil is reasonably well drained then they could go in now. If your soil is waterlogged, when you do plant, improve the drainage with loads of coarse gravel
Have they started to bud?
If thet were in pots during the deep freeze in December the roots may have been killed off.

thanks for that. yes the trees do have buds on them. I only bought then in February and haven't layn all winter. They haven't really been sheltered. I have a south facing garden and it faces the sea. I get the blast from that which I'm finding hard to get used to never mind the plants. I had heavy rain today so will have to wait till soil drys a bit. Thanks for the advice....
