I would love to see the local birds nests round here as every hanging basket i put out get stripped of its liner, I have tried felt liners (fdisasterous) then I tried coir liners (coir all over the ground etc) moss disappears at an alarming rate, and my baskets look abysmal with just the plastic liners, and the year I tried those hard compressed board liners the plants hated them! I like to plant in the sides of my baskets so cant use solid baskets (not that I like them). Does anyone else suffer from this? It has only started in the last 4/5 years (I have put them out for over 40 years) Must say I love the birds to bits. Even tried offering them all sorts separately for their use!

you can buy rattan baskets with holes in the sides. The birds will not be able to unpick the rattan so you should be safe with those
