I have just bought a young weeping willow tree and 2 pussy willows - is there a particular type of soil that these plants will grow best in?

Wet soil.....willows love the wet. Other than that, they will grow in anything

Thanks for the advice. Another Q - will the 2 smaller willows grow in pots or do they need lots of space?
Just a bit extra, you probably already know, but just in case.
Make sure the Willow is planted well away from the house.

No Lonnie I didn't know that! Why? The roots?
Hi iheartruby,
yes, Weeping Willows are one of the thirstiest trees around, i'm not too good at explaining properly, bot the answer on this site explains it.

Weeping willows have a very extensive root system so container growing isn't feasible. Just make sure you don't plant them anywhere near your house as they can also grow very large/wide and will block out a a great deal of light.so I wouldn't plant them anywhere near a neighbour's fence either where they might become an antisocial nuisance by blocking out all their sunlight. They also like very moist soil and are very thirsty so be prepared for them to leach a lot of moisture from the surrounding soil.
