I have a hardy fuchsia that is too big for it’s allotted space even though it’s cut right down every every year, I would like to dig it up, split it in half, replant half in the same place and the rest in another place
Hopefully both bits will survive but not be quite so vigorous, when would be the dest time to do this? Thanks.

Late autumn when the fuchsia has lost its leaves but before frosts. Each half will still be as vigorous as it is now but will start off smaller.

As an insurance policy, you could take a few cuttings, which take so easily and will take some time to out-grow their space.
