I've seen plenty of bumble bees and hover flies on the St Johns wort but no butter flies etc on the buddleia so far.
Anyone have similar observations or not ?.

its the same here, although I don't ever see such myriads of butterflies on buddleia as I did years ago. I think it might have something to do with the torrential rain we have had this year as during that early warm spring period I saw loads of butterflies of all kinds. Sadly I don't think they do well in such heavy and prolonged rain. I am hoping that they managed to mate and lay eggs and that there will be more next year.

Thanks Woof, the torrential rain we had earlier seems like a probable cause in the decline in numbers.
