Hi,

Got a sarp VS251W TH26 kawasaki strimmer. engine is running fine, but cutter head does not engage, just loads of horrible crunchy noise.
Any ideas where we can get a replacement head? or what is the problem, is there a friction clutch in the head??
Thanks,
Annie.

Yes there will be a clutch, could be that the spring is knackered or the shoes are knackered.

This happened to me this morning, to turned out to be coarse grass stems wound tightly around the moving parts of the head assembly.
I managed to fix it by simply taking the head apart and cleaning out the plant fibers.

Other than that, it could be a worn clutch assembly, as mentioned or possibly the drive shaft broken or maybe the throttle cable.

Parts should be obtainable from an authorized dealership.
