how long would you leave newly sown grass seed before you gave it some feed

What was the ground like that you sowed it on? If that was properly prepared, there should be no need to feed it until at least next year.

I'd wait till it was grass.

Shouldn't need to feed it at all...or at least until next year !!!

You don't feed it, just let it grow
