After soil was tipped onto some waste ground many different interesting plants started to grow.

One is about 1m high and 1m broad, long stems to leaves with seed / fruit growing in the leaf axils. Not as large as a teazel head but that shape and spiky, looking more like a horse chestnut conker casing.

Any ideas?

Sounds like it could be a thorn apple, or Datura Stramonium, which is a poisonous weed, but has quite pretty flowers - http://www.naturephot...pple-photo-15452.html
