I am tidying the garden today ready for winter (sun shining and warm today).
I was wondering if I could cut back a red hot poker - would it flourish again next year. Don't want to kill it off as the bees love it. Thanks.

You've probably done it now maggie but if not just cut down the dead flower stems and remove any dead leaves. Leave the rest to protect the crown of the plant.
I overdid the pruning and my red hot pokers never recovered, so just remove a few dead leaves and cut back the flowering stems. Good luck.
