Please can someone help me, my poppies are fading fast in fact they are nearly flat to the ground, they are the very big ones, what next? do I just leave them to rot or should I take the tops off, and chop the rest of the plants down, thanks in anticipation. I have just had a thought will they come again?

the big perennial poppies will die back now and come back next year. I cut the flower stems back and dry the heads for using in arrangements during the winter then let the leaves die back to ensure good display next summer... tip for next time you go to the garden centre...find something to plant in fromt of them that flowers a bit later like helianthemum or japanese anemone as they will grow up a bit later and hide the dying poppy leaves
