The electricity board have admitted that they were charging the night rate at the day rate and the day rate at the night rate. Result. Bill was almost halved. My mother has written a stinging letter of complaint about the first people she spoke to who flatly denied this was possible. Suitable apologies and bouquet of flowers followed.

We still have the issue that the consumption appears to have gone up dramatically (on both rates), but No 1 Brother is on that particular case and if chappie next door is tapping in, he should soon know.

And then we'll brick his windows!!!! (Joke)!

Glad to hear that it is half-sorted out. Makes you wonder just how many other people are being charged the wrong amount/rate.

It's a result but it was an uphill struggle to get there. I feel really sorry for people who don't have people like my mum who will keep on battling with these idiots until they eventually concede. Other old folk would just pay up and shut up. Had mum taken their word for it at the outset, grandad would have paid up. Thankfully, mum knew that although he is old, he is quite the full ticket and he KNEW there was something wrong.

Hats off to grandad I say. They were both SO pleased to have it sorted though.

Exactly what happened to my daughter, and she was told it was definitely working right and that she had to pay the exorbitant amount. Only after keeping on to the company, and insisting that all checks be made, was the mistake actually found.
Her bill was halved.
