Just finished redecorating my bathroom and discoverd a small leak from WC soil pipe.

And by small I mean 1 or 2 drops of water when it is flushed.

Don't want to remove the pan to renew / reseal the joint and was wondering your thoughts on the JML Fix-It putty

http://www.jmldirect.com/Fix-It-PF8157/

Looks good and easy but am wondering if there might be any problems later on if I did need to remove the pan!

There won't, no.
You could try rotating the Multiquick connection (plastic connector between pan outlet and waste pipe) backwards and forwards, to see if the internal seal rings reseat better. It will be tight to turn tho. Will probably work.
Are you absolutely certain that the leak is from the soil pipe? I had a similar problem with drops of water apparently from underneath the soil pipe. On close investigation (involving wrapping small pieces of tissue around various parts of the system) I was finally able to trace the leak to the flush pipe connector. This was simple to replace and certainly less drastic than using (the excellent) Fix-It putty.
Wrap it in denso tape, smoothing it in tight with your fingers, will last a while but a new pan conn should be fitted.
