Having just bought my laptop, I have been given One Free Month of Norton Internet Security. Should I pay to renew this - around £30 a year - or buy Norton Software and do it myself - around the same price (can I get it cheaper elsewhere?) or is there another FREE Online AntiSpyware that would do the same job ? I don't mind paying once, but every year seems a bit much. I have Windows 7. My desktop with N Router has Windows XP and separate spyware. I am not at all technical by the way. Thanks all.

Save yourself the money and use one of the free ones, AVG or Avast are popular.

Dodger666's advice is sound - plus the fact that Norton is complete rubbish and can slow up and cause problems for you're browser/computer.

Thanks - however I used Avast once before and it now keeps popping up and telling me my free trial is at an end -- and would I like to pay to renew .... and how do I get rid of this pop up ?
Microsoft.co.uk is recommended by Which magazine - and it's free.
Smurfchops - u can go onto Avasts we site and get a new product key that lasts 18 months (its free) and u get all the facilities and regular updates. Just follow the screen instruction at AVG.com. Norton really is not better at all and in my opinion a total waste of money
What a load of *** about Norton .. It is brilliant now, compared to a resource hog and size it used to be in 2006/7, and now uses less resources than late AVG's. It will also NOT stop some new threats, which Norton does in it's stride. You can find a Norton AV licence online ... Up to 3PC's and 2 years updates for £14. That's nothing for peace of mind.
Shows what you know.
If it has to be free, I would go for Avast.
AVG won't even stop the smss virus.
