Hi DE-ANNE It could be a matter of balance in the system if you go round and turn anticlockwise on///off valve or fully open TRV then remove all the lock shield valve plastic heads the (smooth ones ) usually on the return side of the radiator and systematically go round the house and count how many turns it needs to clockwise turn off then turn back to original set with suitable square key or use the top from other end of rad if it has one and make and recorded//note of turns then try to find where the pump is maybe in the boiler??? then go to the nearest radiator to the pump and turn the lock shield square head clockwise to near close then go to next away from pump consult record/note and turn that one clockwise to near close and so on round downstairs then upstairs to each valve adjustments need just a bit more flow (less clockwise) to each lockshield you may need to spend a few hours to get the system balanced HTH Tez
hello de anne
were the two rads cool at the top or bottom of the rad when you examined them? or were they cool all over
is your system new or old and do you know if you still have water tanks in the loft
see you later

hi terence,
the radiators are totally cold..
there is no tank in the loft, it is in one of the bedrooms.. a header tank....
but these have worked in the past...
thanks
If the system is fitted with Zone valves, one may be jammed shut or the electric motor on it is knackered.
the valve may be jammed at the side of the rad.unscrew the top or valvewheel and this exposes a small pin. pull it out, there is a small liquid loss, and clean it .i usually find a build up of crap around the middle i clean off with my fingernail.put it back and screw the head back on. try the heating again and see if the rad warms up
