I have removed plaster board walls from my bathroom leaving loose electric cable which used to be for wall lights. I intend to put up new plasterboard but not new lights so what do I do with the electric cable? As long as I put insulation tape it - can it stay behind the plasterboard safely?

The problem there would be a) if you forget the cables are behind there or b) you move house and somebody else moves in. If you have a socket or wall lights up then people know to check where the cable lies before doing anything that may cut into the cable but if there is nothing there to prompt them to check then they won't.
