emulsion on wood

We have a small loft hatch which has been glossed. Can I emulsion it when I emulsion the rest of the ceiling instead of using gloss again?

emulsion is water based so will soak into the wood which is not what you want. It will also not go on over current gloss very easily and will not dry evenly. Best use gloss.

Yes you can do it, you will need to sand paper the gloss evenly to key it up first.

As ratter15 says yes it is possible do as he suggests and you will have no problems. It will more than likely require more that one coat.
