HELP! It is under guarantee but my poor experience with machines makes me feel uneasy about anyone tampering with it.

If it's under guarantee then the guarantee will be voided if you attempt to do anything with it yourself.

Call the official service agent or the provider of the guarantee
Possibly there is a faulty bearing at the back of the drum which is releasing grease every time it gets warm. If this is the case the bearing is likely to fail soon (within 6-9 months probably). Try turning the drum by hand. Is it grinding or making a rumbling sound? Does it run smoothly? If it is not smooth then this is a likely cause. Whatever the problem get onto the company responsible for the guarantee work. They will probably be reluctant to admit a faulty bearing (If that's what it is), as it can be a major pig of a job to replace.

I hope that you get it sorted soon. Please keep us all posted as to how you get on.
