moody mare

Im not sure if its the weather or not but my horse has turned into a moody mare lately, not with me but with other horses and wont let any other horses near me even though i give her as much attention as she wants, is she just being jealous or just bad tempered.

yes - I was going to suggest that she might well be in season.
If in doubt call the vet - or find a stallion!

If bub1 doesn't even know if the mare is in season, I certainly wouldn't recommend them breeding which should be left to the experienced knowlegeable horse owners.

Yep sounds like your mare is being mareish due to being in season, a good tip is to not give your mare all your attention whenever she wants it, try to walk off from her now and again just so she doesn't get too demanding with you! As this is your 1st horse , do you read Horse and rider and all the other mags, they are full of tips for 1st time owners. Have fun with your girl, aren't mares just fantastic?

Thankyou for your answer lala1705 and yes i do read that mag but havent yet come across that so i will try not to give her much attention then as you said but it can be hard, yes mares r fun and im sure i will come across more different things as i go along thanks again
