I am in the process of moving out of rented accommodation and have a problem with condensation within two of the upstairs bedrooms.
The one room has an air vent built into the wall but no trickle vents in the windows and the other room has neither.
I want to know if it is a legal requirement for the landlord to provide windows with trickle vents and to also have air vents within all rooms.
If anyone would be able to help shed some light on the situation i would be very grateful and also tell me where i could find the information out and print it off to show him so as i don't loose my deposit!

Don't let him try it on. Your deposit should be held in a government approved scheme, NOT by the landlord or agents.

Ask him where the deposit is held, you should have received this information when you handed it over. You would BOTH have to agree to any deduction, otherwise it would go to arbitration.

I don't think there are any laws regarding vents, probably only recommendations. Condensation is a problem in most homes, even those that are well maintained. Don't be intimidated by him, you also have rights. If he becomes awkward, seek further advice from the CAB.

Building Regulations advise ventilation but its not mandatory. It's really not too difficult to open windows and put heating on to manually ventilate rooms. Let us know how you get on with the deposit - but if there's no actual damage I'd be surprised if you lose any money.
