I.—Note on the Piltdown Man (Eoanthropus Dawsoni). A Smith Woodward Geological Magazine 10:1010, 433-434, Cambridge University Press, 10/1893.
Off topic but that was an underrated album Harpy.
Is this a crossword clue ? No early form was found. In 1938 a collector called Dawson claimed it was found. It was a human skull with an orang utan's jawbone, stained chemically to look old.. The hoax was discovered in 1953. Dawson was the likely culprit. He had got other faked antiquities. The 'man' was named after him, 'dawsoni', and he secured the glory, which was probably his reason for perpetrating the hoax.
