William 1 was known as William the Conqueror and defeated King Harold at the Battle of Hastings in 1066 to become King of England.

Surely this is common knowledge? Everyone knows that William the Conqueror defeated King Harold.

Harold supposedly got an arrow in his eye.
And of course everyone knows the Bayeux Tapestry isn't a tapestry but an embroidery & wasn't made in Bayeux.
..although it's more likely that he was castrated, dis-embowled, and then beheaded. Not a pleasant end.
