Seems some of you have had your tail feathers ruffled over a contest. My first question is WHY do you care? Are you competing with them? Are you jealous?Or do you just have nothing better to do than whine about what someone else does? What you don't think this site is used by people everyday to win a contest?Get Real.If questions people post make you so mad then maybe the internet just isn't for you.Keep it cool they are the ones missing out on all the great history. To find the answers you have to read alot.Hey its their loss if they chose the easy way out.Doesn't mean they will get anywhere.lol Just be COOL

I don't care about your competition or who wins it. I don't think it's cheating to ask people for assistance; knowlege is not inate, after all and there's no prizes for being able to use an index per se.

I don't know why anyone would think a site based in Britain and mainly frequented by British people would be particularly knowledgeable about cowboys, but that's not to say that some people here wont have an interest.

What I don't understand is how it seems to be so hard to understand that quiz questions should go in the section cunningly entitled "quizzes" and why people cannot be bothered to check the numerous examples of the questions already having been asked. Since these are flagged up to users posting a question, it strikes me as deeply lazy not to check them out. People doing this quiz are needlessly clogging the site with something of limited interest becuase they cannot be bothered to read what is presented to them.
please have some respect for this British site,is this marlboro contest not a quiz??then put your questions in the quizzes &puzzles section, now wasnt that easy??your not doing the american nation any favours by your trash comments.
I agree with Vinny and WaldoMcFroog. Many of us have a look at this website when we can to answer questions and ask questions and even discuss things in the categories we're interested in. Usually when we check the category there are a few new question each time we check. Quiz questions belong in the category "Quizzes and Puzzles". It is therefore extremely annoying to find the Marlboro questions posted in many of the other sections. What makes it worse is that some competitors last week posted nearly all of the 100 questions over and over again in different categories (even in adverts and animals and nature) - so it was virtually impossible to find ordinary questions listed under our favourite categories.
I have no beef with anyone asking any question for any reason, except, as others have indicated, when the same question is repeated, because it pushes other questions off the bottom of the section. So, if everyone can use the site fully, including checking before submitting - which is why that finction is provided - then everything will run more smoothly.
POST YOUR QUESTIONS IN THE BLOODY QUIZZES SECTION THEN. OR **** *** AND STOP USING THIS SITE JUST BECUASE YOU AND THE MILLION OTHERS ATTEMPTING THE QUIZ ARE TOO LAZY ARSED TO ACTUALLY TRY AND WORK SOMETHING OUT ON THEIR OWN. ~*rant over*~
Can't really add anything to what's already been said above, except to agree with it. It's not the competition that's the problem, it's the repetition and misplacement of the questions.
I agree
Me too
Hear, hear. I'd always thought the appeal of Answerbank (for questioners and respondents alike) was that it was the place you came to once you had exhausted other sources of information or for those seeking opinions or advice. I, like many regular contributors to this site, have simply become frustrated by the sheer volume and repetition of questions that are interfering with the "community" aim of the site. Feel free to ask what you like but try to put your questions in the correct section and check to see if your question has already been answered - that's just a simple courtesy to your fellow users. Right, now that's off my chest, I'm off to spark up another Marlboro...

OK I wasn't aware this site was just "Brits" who by the way if you hadn't yet figured out have been a great big part of Americian history. Did you know that the first person to cross the great divide was a "Brit"?.The first american pioneers didn't appear out of thin air they came from all over the world and they trodged though mud and thorns and unbearable heat and risk the lives of family and themselfs to have a piece of land and often burried wonderful British people along the way. There are many British people very familiar with early American history. Just because your not interested in some of your own history don't think that others around you aren't. And not all Americans are lazy don't steriotype people. I do agree that people should post in the appropriate place which by the way could be under history or quizzes. They also need to check and see if its been posted already before they post it again that i agree on also. I think the bogus answers people give are funny and I keep reading them just to see what crazy stuff people answer with. And im not LAZY I don't mind wading through a few duplicate post.Anyway I plan to continue on coming back until they put up the sign that says "Americans keep out" Be Cool and don't sweat the small things and never pet the small sweaty things. And lets face it its all just a bunch of small sweaty things.TTFN
sexperttx, The reason people have become tired of it is because: A. The same questions are asked repetitively, almost hourly. B. Some people cannot follow basic, simple instructions when posting their questions i.e. a question similar to yours has been answered, do you still want to post it so how much of an idiot to you have to be to click yes? C. I hope and pray that the money is won by a little old lady who has never smoked in her life and entered the quiz on a whim and when she pops her dear old clogs she leaves half the money to Cancer Research and the other half to her dog, who just happens to be called Bagel. D. Also please be kind enough to remember that this site and it's various categories are not here for the exclusive purpose of a horde of Americans who naively think they'll get answers by posting all their questions in every single category.
You only need to look at the posts immediately above yours to see the problem. The people who try to answer are doing it because they want to, not because they are being paid. It's an anonymous community. As has been said, it's not a matter of "cheating". It's actually a matter of disrespect to those who want ask non-Marlboro questions and those who give freely of their time, knowledge and web-searching skills

Thanks Philtaz and Pinus.Maybe if they read these post they will think twice before they post questions that have been posted so many times. And yes i agree it would be hilarious if some non smoker won and gave the money to a charity or maybe left it to a home for wayword cat.LOL
F Y I----I ALREADY HAVE ABOUT 80 ANSWERS TO THE 100 QUESTIONS, ABOUT 2 OF THEM CAME FROM HERE. NOT ALL AMERICANS SIT ON THEIR LAZY ARSES TO DO THEIR D___ RESEARCH. THERES A FEW THAT ARE MORE DIFFICULT---BUT MOST PEOPLE HAVE COMMON SENSE ENOUGH BY NOW NOT TO POST ANSWERS. I COME BACK HERE FOR OTHER REASONS, TOO. BUT TO CLOG UP A SITE WITH JUNK COMMENTS ABOUT AN AMERICAN CONTEST----WHOS WORSE?? THE QUESTIONERS OR THE COMMENTEES. y'ALL HAVE A G'DAY

augie28269, if they're not bothering to check whether the question has already been posted, and/ or regardless are posting quiz questions in an inappropriate section, it is clearly the questioners. I don't think that's terribly hard or controvertial.

sexperttx, the reason for mentioning that this is a British site was not to keep any other nationality out, merely to point out that since it's not an American site, knowledge about cowboys may be scarce.

The reason they are mad is cause our society has become so damn lazy. And these a**holes, including you. Dont see the fact that cheating has brought us all down. Oh I use the internet to answer the questions, google is a great source. its here that you have others do the work for you.

hmm very nice Trigger. Now your sounding mature.Maybe people like you are the ones that need post deleted. If you can't refrain from calling people names.Your just as lazy if you can't use your little finger to scroll though a few post. And FYI Google is one of the search engines sending people to this sight. And i have never asked for one of the answers i got them all on my own no help from Google at all.Half the fun of this sight is when you can laugh at some of the bogus answers people give. But the worst part is people like you that constantle moan and whine about something thats not very important at all.Im sure glad there are more people like the ones that have answered my post that have a reasonable comment and a mature approach.Hope your feeling better now.Have a good one.:D
Sexperttx - Which Brit was it then, who first crossed the Atlantic? Columbus? Eric the Red? Or perhaps Brendan? (As far as I'm concerned Americans are very welcome here. Just don't mention cowboys -- and I say that as a cattle herder...)
