One of the US armies was led by George Patton(6th I think).

Ultimately it was Eisenhower, he was the supreme commander of allied forces in Europe in 1944, on the ground though it was General George S. Patton who led the 3rd army into the Saar valley basin in Germany in Febuary 1945
