Why does the wod monosyllabic have so many syllables?

Same reason as why there's only one Monopolies Commission.
probably for the same reason that the word abbreviated is so long.
And why gullible isn't in the dictionary ;-))
So the dyslexic person can't spell it.

Monosyllabic

I didn't know monosyllabic was a wod !
Because it is a combination of "mono-" from the Greek meaning "one"; the root from "syllable", and the suffix "-ic" to make an adjectival form.
More to the point, why does "univocalic" have 4 different vowels? Shouldn't it be "onovocoloc"? And why is "long" short? And why don't we make it compulsory to write "red" in red every time we write it? Or "upside-down" upside-down? Or "stretched" stretched? Or [continued on page 94]
...and why no-one can imagine a world with no hypothetical situations. I'll get me coat...
And why nails are so pointy? ... Actually, now I come to think of it, that makes a lot of sense.
And why do questions always end with a question mark?
