Bush won, Bush won, Bush won, and don't you ever forget it What adversary?
Question Author
yes, I know he "won" and the record books will show this as a fact, but I want to know who was robbed by the cheating Texan who discounted loads of votes from black people, college students etc around the country during the 2month debacle that was the "recount", or vote adjustment period as us right-thinking people refer to it.

you shout a bit too loudly about Bush winning - people will start to think you're some rabid right-wing american if you carry on like that...

Bush won with 271 votes; Gore lost with 266 votes; there was 1 abstention. The "botched disputed election" (as you put it) was an election for 25 members to represent Florida in the electoral college. I do not know the names of any of those people.
If you mean "Who was the Democratic Party candidate in the presidential election in 2000?" then the answer is Al Bore alias Al Gore. But that is not the question which you actually asked, so we were answering the question you had written.
I LOVE AL GORE !!!!!!
Don't worry. I won't tell Mrs Gore.
The truth of course lies somewhere in between all the views out there...Gore actually polled more than half a million votes than Bush but due to the nature of the elction (and some dirty underhand dealings by his brother Jeb the Florida Governor) he was able to scrape through by a hanging chad....if you are interested then you might like this little link.

cheers sft42. bernardo, thanks for remembering the name, but not for getting the context wrong - it was the incident which sft42 refers to which i was asking about.
Michael Moore goes into this in a lot of detail in his excellent book 'Stupid White Men'. One of the Bush family's friends (who happened to be in charge of the recount) ordered it to be stopped before all the votes had been counted, at which point Georgie was in the lead and therefore became President. However, the count was eventually completed. When this was done, it was found that Gore had, in fact, won. Of course, by then, Dubya was already planning what to do with the White House garden. Nice to see that democracy's alive & kicking!
Bobb, my post was meant jokingly, hope I didn't offend you.
