Margaret Thatcher's brush with death.

Being young at the time I was more interested in playing with my starcom set than the fate of the British Prime Minister but how did the Iron Lady (and the whole government) react to be almost being killed in the hotel by an IRA bomb? There would have been enormous ramifications to the decapitation of the British government. The entire country would have been a headless chicken. How did M. Thatcher ensure that it didn't happen again?

...just spelt "spelling" wrong...(sigh, not so smug now...)
oh, and "devestating"...
Jamesboy- glad you know appreciate that spelling is no mark of Intelligence. I do have to agree with you that the people voting for Thatcher were symptomatic of the overall problem. However this is why I am not a fan of 'democracy' or mob rule as I prefer to call it. What sort of a system is it where a Sun reader or Eastenders viewer has the same right to vote as...well me quite frankly!
I know what you mean, Sick, tell you what, you choose the government, and I'll choose the top 40!
grantfuttock... ill tell you whats disguting pal, Ripping the industrial heart out of this country, creating a society that doesnt give a toss about each other, clause 28, the criminal justice bill, the poll tax, the utter destruction of the railways, 3and a half million people unemployed, removal of free milk to children at school, the sinking of the Belgrano despite the fact that it was outside of the exclusion zone and sailing back to Argentina thus killing over 1000 men (just to win an election- its well documented that Francis Pym had secured a ceasefire), compulsary competetive tendering, the large scale sale of council houses thus precipitating the current housing crisis in the south east and the destruction of the Mining industrial just to make a petty political point. I could go on and on and on.....she should be burnt at the stake for what she did to this country.
ummm yes I think that pretty much comprehensively covers it- well said isca!
ta very much!

isca -I didn't agree with her politics either ( and never voted for her) .

She had a nasty streak down her back which you, apparently share. Once again, whatever she did,I don't wish her,or anybody else,a painful death.

You can think want you like about me, i couldnt give a monkeys. she destroyed this country to the point that i dont think we'll ever fully recover. She has blood on her hands over the Belgrano and i for one (and judging by this thread im not alone) wish her nothing but ill will.

PS im one of "thatchers children", maybe thats how i ended up with the nasty streak you so insightfully claim i have....

It didn't take much insight isca-but honestly I don't blame you, your formative years were obviously blighted by the removal of your free school milk.
