History would have been very different if Winston Churchill had failed his army entrance exam - on his final attempt at the army entrance exam, he was required to learn about the geography of many countries, and he would be tested on one. Rather than learn them all, he put the names of the countries into a hat and drew one out the night before, which he then learned. The next morning on opening his exam paper, the opening question asked him to draw a map of the same country he had pulled out of the hat the night before. He passed the exam, just. So what was the country?
