//A charity set up to continue the legacy of Winston Churchill has erased his first name and pictures of him from its website....A list of his achievements has been removed from the website, as well as a 1,400-word tribute that referenced a ‘much loved leader’ with a ‘bulldog spirit’.//

Churchill himself would laugh at such foolishness. The fickle nature of the terminally obtuse.
Sheesh, who would not fall fowl of the woke brigade these days?

The charity's spokesman said "We are proud of him and his contribution to saving the world from Naziism. At the same time, some of his views on race are widely seen as unacceptable today".

The operative word there is "today". Churchill was born in 1874 and is renowned by many for his political judgement. What he did at the time was seen as perfectly acceptable and normal. His record as a Prime Minister in peace and war time is divided.

The woke among us think they are so clever with what amounts to no more than hindsight, imo. Despite all progression to the present time all the studying, education, fantastic leaps forward in health research, medicine, ecology - you name it, these people are more dependent upon the internet than probably does them good. Too easy by far for them to follow someone on social media without having a good grounding in the wider world.

We can opine/expound/decry/deny/debate and argue until the cows come home - it will achieve no useful purpose, whatsoever.

If only the woke could accept that without Churchill their current lives might have been very different indeed.

He simply was the finest Prime Minster we ever had and to compare Churchill to the likes of Edward Colston, for example, is doing him the greatest dishonour.

(naomi, I would never have had them on my Christmas card list in the first place.)

Drat! You had Best Answer, choux, until I read your penultimate paragraph. Edward Colston was also a man of his time.
Why would you work for any organisation if you did not like what it stands for, would they be so critical if winston churchill was alive to answer back?
the woke trying to write a new future, everythings vanilla, no winners or losers shades of grey, history is behind closed doors as it may offend, the rest is edited for our own good.
If only churchill had been black.
What a bizarre comment.
Lol, naomi, unlike some, I have never been driven by BA's. I cannot condone a few things so I stand by what I wrote :)

:o)
naomi, it is really good to be able to disagree without argument x

Yes indeed.
sp; //Good news - let’s learn about the man and not pander to those who want to silence those who seek the truth.//

Is that tongue in cheek, or do you think it would be of benefit to review historical figures looking for 'bad' things through the prism of today's mores?

Bible, John 8:7, springs to mind.
It would be interesting to research the lives, families & ancestors of these woke, witch-hunters; they might be in for a few surprises (as would we all)
^^ ^^
Well said.
"his namesake charity has launched a wokezkrieg...
We shall fight in the classrooms, we shall fight in the tribunals and on social media … we shall NEVER surrender."
