24th July
Friday. Expect tears.

25th I think.
//Expect tears.//

Well at least you'll have a face covering on to stop them running down your face.
24th got mine in stock.
Lol NJ
I don’t think there’ll be any tears. Probably to the grand disappointment of some
2 weeks ago for me
Whenever it is, it will be the day I become a recluse.
Scotland: Already a legal requirement.
England: From 24 July
Wales & NI: Already encouraged but no legal requirement current or proposed.
I had a word with the management in my local Tesco's this morning (I'm a known customer) and explained about the asthma and my exemption from masks. I wondered if they had some sort of badge etc. - their reaction...? 'We are not going to be challenging anybody. Not our job.' I rang a shoe-shop this afternoon and they are expecting me lunch-time Tuesday week and will organise to give me space. No problem. :)
Just a couple of videos to allay any fears about masks - they do not (indeed, cannot) reduce oxygen levels :

First from a couple of doctors :

Excellent post Dave.
Excellent post SD .
Although if I’m reading people correctly I don’t think
“oxygen levels” are the concern of many :-)
Some of the things I’ve seen some people wearing tho I’m surprised they can see never mind breath!
It should have started long ago. I have now made hundreds of masks. I experimented on myself and the village nurse until I found the most comfortable one.
Ireland is also behind in making it compulsory everywhere but thankfully our village has seen sense.
Dave and I called into Lidl in the big town yesterday. A sign on the door asked people to wear face coverings. Most did but we do have lots of tourists who know better and didn't. I did feel uncomfortable being in a situation with unmasked people. I don't know where they've been or where they came from.
Of course it can never be as comfortable as not wearing a mask in the days before this virus. But we need to be mindful of those we may be coming into contact with as we venture out and do our best for each other.
What the doctors didn't say in SD's link, was how long the mask is effective for. No longer than 20 minutes is what I was told by someone who is a nurse in the ITU at St. Thomas' Hospital. After that time, they serve no purpose, other than theraputic, in that the wearer thinks the mask is being effective in some way.
So if you're in a supermarket for an hour, or need to go to several shops...does that mean you'll be using 3 or more for an outing? Well...it's keeping the mask makers in business.
I keep one in the car, one in the van and one in the wee lorry but still wandered into Morrisons to pay for fuel without one on just the other day.

Nothing happened. No blue lights, sirens, hit squads or even a comment from the staff.

Maybe I just look breathless and exempt.
But who’s going to know how long you’ve had it on for? I can imagine some people will reuse them day after day.
