Watching a programme on Martin Luther and when he meets Cardinal Cajetan he is shown to fully prostrate before the Bishop.I assume prostration is now done for ordanation and not simply meeting a bishop ?

Well, the Archbish. of York came to our church last year - every member of clergy within 20 miles attended, we sang - no-one had to be picked-up from the floor, I assure you!
er the arch bish of York is a prot and at this time Luther was a roman catholic and an ordained priest - wasnt he ?

cardinals were Princes of the Church and get to ride a donkey ( cool huh ) and so I am not surprised that prostration was required

but not now
Oops! I hadn't realised that the O.P. referred solely to RCs.
do you address your local proddy priest, as Farder?
I do - Holy Father is a bit ... far out - or further than needed.
no idea what the real Anglicans do - even tho I went to a protestant university
er Jourdain ..... prots dont have cardinals - er or Popes
'do you address your local proddy priest, as Farder?'

No, I just call him Peter.
Mine's called Barbara - and she lands me with some awful jobs. Now I've to put up and display about 50 bits of work by pupils at local school. All because I went to the end of year service! Hair-tearing time, but the kids are so pleased...………..
yeah your Marge sounds a bit of a Tartar, Jourd
I am not sure if she would warm to all this Holy Mudder bit
