The presenter just said that the market square in Crakow was the second largest in Europe only to St Marks Square in Rome - is there a St Marks Square in Rome? I wonder if she means Venice?

think she's wronjg on both counts.

largest - parade square, warsaw, poland @ 240,000m2

krakow - 41,340m2
st peters, rome - 13,500m2 (and it aint the biggest in rome)
st marks, venice - 12,128m2

Nothing to do with the thread but in St Marks Square in Venice you need a mortgage for a cup of coffee.

I used to work in a restaurant in Holborn and where I sat and ate my lunch there was a painting of St Marks Square Venice and I always said I'd like to go and see it for real. Didn't happen! Probably never will.
i was in venice about 6 years ago and it cost £12 for two capuccinos!
