i was under the impression that the emergency services were not allowed to use the sirens between certain times of the night, does anyone know if this is correct please?

here is no specific time, but sirens should only be used to clear traffic, I get annoyed with this - how many bloomin' cars are on the quiet backroads at 2am? Half the time I think it's the police letting the criminals know they're coming.

I was somewhere during the night and twice fire engines went past with the sirens on
I wouldn't have thought so. I could ask bobjugs but I've a feeling he's out on a secure job atm.

During the late night/early morning when traffic is less of a problem, it is usual to rely on the lights, alone........however, if the driver of any emergency vehicle believes they are approaching an area in which, for any reason, the lights alone will not provide sufficient warning, they may use the music, too......
