"You've been a good influence on my son"
how old is your son?

Would 'nice arse' be inappropriate?
So do you do it to see them squirm with embarrassment or what?
why do you need to compliment them regularly?
Question Author
Nice arse is very funny but does not set the right tone
I do it because I think it's a nice thing to do
I like to receive them so why not pay a few out
once or twice is okay but I would start to feel a little weirded out if it became a regular occurance, thats just me though :)

<<<<I normally like to compliment my sons friends >>>>

Why? Seems daft to me!

When my son's mates come round - I will just comment on clothes, hair etc.

Question Author
Oh believe me it is not
I got the initial idea from a book about jfk's son. One of his friends said jackie regularly complimented them and I thought ot was a sweet gesture
It seems I was wrong though
complimenting anyone is lovely, but only if it's genuine. coming on here and asking what you could say to them is a bit... odd.
Question Author
Well thats told me :(
You could compliment them saying their top is nice or something like that :)
Nothing wrong with trying to be nice ric.ror, just comment on their clothes and chat to them a bit about what they've been up to etc, don't feel weird about it, people pick up how something is meant so it won't be percieved by them as odd, it's just on here things get a little bit detached and sometimes it's hard to know how things come across. I chat to my kids friends all the time, it's no big deal:)
Question Author
It is no big deal
I have known some of these young men since they were babies
I even had one his partner and their two week old baby with me on mothers day lunch outing extended family he called us
They are like semi sons to me
