Where is the best place to locate Parish Registers in the Wigan, Lancashire Area to access records before 1800?

phone the library in Wigan, they should be able to direct you.
It may be here in Preston

But then Wigan used to be in Lancashire but is now in Greater Manchester, so I'd definitely ring before travelling!
THE International Genealogical Index includes the records of birth and marriage from Wigan parish church, you will not really learn any more from the parish register entry.

HOWEVER, if you want to look at any of the entries you find on the IGI I can do that for you as the staff entrance at work is 50 yards from the library, and I am familiar with the source.
