What is everyone getting their Dads for fathers day. Difficult isn't it? Personally, i don't even have a Dad now as he passed away 21 years ago but i have to buy for my husband, from my son from my first marriage plus our little boy, my husbands dad, my step-dad and my eldest sons Dad!!! Not bad when my own isn't even around. Its a nightmare. What else is there (on a budget) other than socks and pants? men!!!

glammapus fathers day is the 18th, this Sun, sexyrussian, its just a day where we can let our Dads know how much we love them with a card and a pressie.

oh i think i had my gall bladder out in glenfield, is that where that lovely private hospital is ?..
Oh an English thing then.Nice idea though.
sorry... i usually find book tokens and vouchers really handy for woolies and wh smiths., also garden vouchers are good.

many happys for Sun electricblue!!!

No it isn't an English thing ~ it's a British thing ;o)

My dad is always telling me not to bother giving him anything as 'every day is fathers day to me' awww bless him! however, I shall be sending him a card & will be going up to see him for dinner.

Yes happy birthday for Sunday electricblue. My own Dad has also died unruliejulie, but have bought a DVD of The Swimmer (a film for you young 'uns) starring Burt Lancaster as it is one of his favourite films. Got it off Amazon, wasn't dear at all. Went shopping with Mr Spudqueen yesterday afternoon when he chose his own fathers day pressie - a Croatia football shirt. Don't normally let him choose, but he saw it and wanted it so I said I'd buy it for him from our kids for Sunday. He's wearing it now though as Croatia are playing Brazil tonight! Normally he gets beer or choccie or something similar.
it is actually an american thing, there wasn't a father's day when i was a child, i think it started in the late 1970s, before then there was only mothering sunday.

they all say that though don't they? I remember my dear old dad saying to me when i was ablout 13,after i asked what he wanted, just get me a new comb. I will never forget that. Bless him.My Mum still says not to bother now, just get a card, as if!
British and English are the same thing. It annoys me the way people see a difference.
Question Author
well, they're not sexyrussian, i am English, not Welsh or Scottish. On the whole we are British but you will find most prefer tpo be called either English, Scottish or Welsh. You being a russian wouldn't understand. Now, what else is anyone getting?
I will leave that argument to be started by someone else..want to make some more enemies, Russian? go say that to a Scottish person..or Irish..or Welsh.. ;o)
