I already have a quarterly subscription to Ancestry site, but wondered if it would be worth buying credits to Findmypast site. Is there any different information on there which I can't get on Ancestry please?

I needed to find out some family info recently and found what I needed on genes reunited. I purchased a fivers worth of info but didn't really need to as the extra bit it gave didn't add anything to the free record.

Thanks grasscarp, its just that I have had an email from findmypast to tell me I can reclaim lost credits if I buy some more ...... I did buy some 2 years ago but they expired before I could use them all. Just a marketing ploy but I did wonder if it was worth having a look to see what information is on there now ........
I used Genes reunited last year and also had a free month trial with ancestry. Found them pretty much the same. A friend of mine has tried Findmypast. I asked him how he got on and he said he couldn't find the info he needed. I have now subscribed to ancestry again.
I subscribe to both Ancestry and Findmypast. I find Ancestry better, but I had to subscribe to Findmypast to access parish records for Hertfordshire which Ancestry didn't have. There are quite a lot of parish records on there. I guess if there are records on FMP that you need, you could but credits specifically for them. It is quite dear to subscribe to. I paid £70 for six months.

I specifically wanted a newspaper article but can't find it in a search on findmypast so probably won't bother. Thanks anyway.
Hi Ann - is it a newspaper article you might find in your local archive/local history centre? I am sure you have already thought of this, so I am probably being of no use whatsoever. Also, if it's a "BIG" news story, some of the nationals have some archive material on line too but it takes some digging!!
