Hi, I'm not sure which topic this might fall in could also be family i guess. I am tracing my family history and would like to join a genealogy site can anyone recommend some good free ones. Equally in your opinion the best subscription one that would give you access to as many records as possible.

Thank you in anticipation

You might want to ask a few questions here: http://www.theanswerb...uk/History/Genealogy/

They're quite good in there ^^
Just ask on Geneology - dotty. often does a wonderful job and it won't cost you a penny
You could also pop into your local library if you are in the UK - access is free there.
Genes Reunited is excellent for this country I have done most of my Family tree with them. Just under £50 per 6 months as a platinum member.Ancestry dearer but does cover abroad as well as UK. Free BMI has some records too.
Best subscription site for me is ancestry.co.uk. If you want to try the site before you subscribe you can use it for free at your local library.

Thank you all, I didn't realise you had a researcher within AB
On ancestry.co.uk at the moment they are offering searches of the 1911 census free. I am not sure how long it will allow you to do this for but it could be a helpful start and would give you an idea of how the site works.
