Where can I get copy of my adoption records? I already have info on my birth mother & have birth & adoption certificates. Need to see actual records of my early life, why where etc. Was I moved a lot, was I a well child, was I with my mother a lot?
Have tried Direct.gov but they just seem to ask for questions I already know the answers to. Can any one help please?

I think the information you are looking for would only be known by your birth mother, what period of time was there between your birth and adoption? Were you adopted from a children's home or was your mother still with you at the time of the adoption?
Question Author
Adopted from children's home aged about 2 then chosen by my adoptive parents aged 4ish. officially adopted aged 7.
My birth mother cared for me whilst working (single Mum) by placing me in various creches.. Have tried contacting the home but now private housing. Think I was put up for adoption from London County Council within borough of Bethnal Green.

Sorry sounds confusing...... 2 years old into home.......4 years old I was chosen.......7years old adopted!
my kids paternal ancestors were from bethnal green, it was probably one of the poorest areas in the country in the 1920s and 30s, huge tenements were built post war to house those who lost their homes in the second world war. if you were a child of the 60s in that area you may have been actually adopted through Bernardos, even though you think it was an independant childrens home. I think you may have quite a specific history so if you prefer some support off the site you can contact me at [email protected].
