what have you looked for already?
Did she marry? Have you looked at death records?
I've got a Very Ivy Bowdery died in the Dec 93 quarter, aged 94, having been born on 29 August 1899.

I can't find a "Tilley/Bowdery" marriage though, so it could be a two marriage case.

Does any of this ring bells?
Did she get to adulthood as Tilley or was she adopted...........I notice in 1911 she was in an orphanage.
I cannot find anyone called Bowdery marrying a Vera (well there is one but it's not that).............as this Vera Ivy Bowdrey was born the same year and same quarter as Vera Ivy Tilley I think she was adopted and didn't marry.

Thanks to those who replied. The 1911 is correct, but she was alive in the twenties, I have photos. There was a story that she "eloped" with a married man, in which case she may have changed her name, or gone abroad. I have tried many sources to find her, but this is my last attempt. I guess she did not want to be found......end of story!
I would suggest you obtain a copy of her birth certificate to start with. That way you get a precise date of birth, which may help you match with other individuals.

Actually Craft, you may have something there. What if Vera ran off with Mr Bowdery, called herself "Bowdery" but never married? There are no checks on registering a death, you don't have to supply a birth or marriage certificate. The doctor/hospital will have just filled in the details as he knew them. Might just be worth getting a copy of the Bowdery death certificate too.
I can't find her marrying in Scotland either.

I have her birth cerificate, and she WAS born on 29th August 1999. It does rather lookas though she may have been involved with Mr. Bowdery, though not actually marrying him. She could have used his name to look "respectable" This could have been because he remained married. As far as I know, she was not adopted, as I have a photo of her taken with my mother in the twenties, looking apparently happy and carefree. Thank you all for your help. I feel you may have given me what I have been looking for .
