An ancester of mine, William Henry Tilley was born on 9th Jan 1809 in Newport Pagnell,
but in spite of my efforts, using Ancestry and Family Search, I have been unable to find his parents. I believe his father was Thomas Tilley who might have been born about 1783. I would be trmendously grateful if someone could point me in the right direction, please.I think he may have been born in the Leicester area.

Thanks for your interest, I hope you can help.

on the 1851 census is Wiiliam henry not living in Hackney with his 78 year old Mother Elizabeth also born Newport Pagnell?
Elizabeth married Thomas Tilley, he was born Newport Pagnell 1785 and died in Dalston Cumberland in 1858 aged 73.
William Henry was Christened at Newport Pagnall on the 11 Jan 1809 son of Thomas and Elizabeth Tilley and that is Elizabeth Brey I think. They were from Aylestone Leicestershire which puts them in the right place foe craft's couple

Thanks, D otty, Aylestone puts me on a new track
I have traced my dad's line back to a Joseph Tilley born in Saddington (as per 1851 census), Leicestershire c.1796. Saddington and Lubenham aren't too far apart so my Joseph and your Thomas may have been related!
Question Author
I suppose it may be possible, but I am familiar with Tilley names, and I never came across a Joseph. Also, during my research I discovered there were a great many Tilleys, so anything is possible!
