My son has just bought a hdmi cable for his PS3,for watching Blu-Ray discs, he removed the cable to go back to playing games using a normal connection and the screen is blank. Can anyone explain this and help me to rectify this. he can play games using the HDMI cable but he doesn't like the picture this gives on his telly

I seem to remember there is something about this in the PS3 manual.

It gave details of what to do when you switched between HDMI mode and "normal" mode.

Anyway, what is wrong with the picture he gets on his tv when playing games, surely if you sort that out he can use the HDMI lead all the time.

In HDMI mode he says the picture is to zoomed out. meaning it appears to far away,especially on a small telly
I think you need to hold down the on/off button for few seconds while on standby. (May be wrong, son's not here to check with)

thank you for your help. i managed to get it soreted. YNWA
You have to reset the video settings.
Hold the power button until it beeps 2x consecutively.
When PS3 off press power button until it turns off again.
Then press power but again until you hear 2 beeps and let go fast, that's it.
