My Sons PS2 has died, can anything be done to fix it.
When he loads a game no whirring sound can be heard which normally you can hear when the cd starts loading the game. Just no noise at all. He has tried other games turning it round to stand vertically or horzintally..
Some did suggest a cd head cleaner disc which we got but that did not help as the cd drive did not pick that up either.
Is it dead? or can it be fixed ? I know they are cheap now but thought Id ask on here to see if its something that can be fixed beforing getting him a new one.
Thanks

mine would not load cd in ps2, take casing off (make sure power is not on) and locate lens, with a cotton bud or tissue put some brandy or jack daniels on (i know what a waste but it does work) the material and wipe the lens clean replace cover and try again good luck and happy new year
Mine started to make strange noises as it struggled to read the discs and sometimes just failed to even attempt it, so I opened it up and adjusted the laser angle now everything works again. here is a link if you want to give that a try.
