This thread has been inspired by a thread about colouring books for adults.

What toy, game or pastime do you recall from your childhood that given half a chance you would resurrect today?

I was particularly fond of fuzzy felts and a pegboard where you had had coloured pegs to make a pattern in the pegboard.

Given a chance when visiting someone else's home I was (and still am) completely absorbed by Lego :-)

I had hours of 'fun' with the thing that went down the stairs. Slinky?
french skipping with knicker elastic lol
jacks and five stones
Yes loved fuzzy felt, the paper clothes you cut out with tabs and folded onto a cardboard doll, Lego, Spirograph,
My walls kept falling down and making me cry. I was putting the lego-bricks one on top of the other instead of interlocking.
Mind you, I was only 23 then.

My slinky took a fatal tumble down the stairs and ended up in an irretrievable knot :-(

I loved French skipping, I'd use a dining chair if I had no friends to play with or my Mum was busy elsewhere.

Cats cradle was another cheap source of amusement.
I did that too Eccles, at its height I remember all the local haberdashery stores had run out of elastic.
Yoyo!
I liked spillikins.
Spirograph.
Question Author
I always wanted a Spirograph but never got one. I had to make do with creating my own compass roses.
For outdoor fun you couldn't beat a stick.
Awwww. Bless.
My spacehopper
hop scotch great fun
Etch-a-Sketch.
Does anybody remember a cotton reel (I think) with little tacks in it and using coloured wool to make a long - completely useless - 'worm', it's just a vague recollection.
I have a vague recollection of the cotton reel thing. Didn`t the resulting worm go through the middle of it? I also remember getting two pieces of cardboard, cutting them into a round and making pom poms with wool.
yes it was called french knitting the posh people had little wooden dolls ,we used cotton reels lol x
Yes that's right it did go down the hole in the middle! I did the pom-pom thing too. Can't imagine kids today would play with anything like that.
Meccano, without a shadow of doubt.
