Bought Songs From Play Store But Not Working

I recently spent about £20 + on songs from the android play store for my galaxy s3 phone. It was specifically to listen to at airport and on holiday. The annoying thing is that when I came to play them only about 4 of the 30ish songs work. The others say a message saying I need internet access to play. Surely if I've bought the songs, I can listen to them whenever I want without internet.

Anybody know why some work but the others don't?

Have you actually downloaded them?
I only use itunes (and youtube downloads) so have no experience of Android play store, sorry
