Fruit Scones

Forget about lunch, cream tea is a much tastier, sweeter option. Sit back and relax with a cup of tea and a delicious soft fruity scone covered in lashing of clotted cream and strawberry jam. 

Scones are a perfect recipe for the amature baker; they are simple, quick, taste great and you will be making them for years to come. You always need something ready for when guests pop round, tea and a scone is a perfect light treat that will keep your guests happy.

Ingredients

  • 450g self raising flour
  • 110g butter
  • 110g sultanas
  • 50g sugar
  • 150ml milk
  • ½ tsp salt

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 190C.
  2. Rub the butter into flour, until the mixture looks like breadcrumbs.
  3. Add the sugar, sultanas and salt and mix in enough milk to make a soft dough.
  4. Divided the dough into 12 portions and make flattened circles about 2 cm thick, places on a greased baking tray and brush milk over scones.
  5. Bake for 10 - 15 minutes until risen and golden.
