I don't usually eat Indian food as it often seems to use garlic which makes me feel ill, However tonight I went for an indian meal and (after checking with the waiter that it didn't have garlic in it) I ordered the lamb passanda. However here I am a couple of hours later with my stomach doing sommersaults.
I have looked up lamb passanda recipes online and it looks to me that they all include quite a lot of garlic.
Has he misled me or is it often made without garlic?
Thanks.

i went on an indian cookery course and every single dish we made, started out wih frying onions and garlic!
I cook a lot of Indian meals at home and I don't know one that doesn't have garlic in.

Grrr - I thought so crisgal and Jan.
I am properly annoyed. Often if there is garlic in a meal I start to feel ill halfway through eating it but tonight I only noticed it on the way home. I will be phoning them in the morning . . .

In fact, I also ordered sag aloo because I make it at home (without garlic!) and love it and he even said that although it usually has garlic in it, the chef could do it without.
I now seriously doubt whether he even mentioned it to the chef - ggrrrr.
I went to this restaurant specifically because it has such a good reputation.
maybe you need to tell them that you have a severe allergy and the dish must not contain any garlic. perhaps the risk of them getting sued would force the truth out!
I suspect anybody going to an indian restaurant and expecting any dish to arrive WITHOUT garlic is expecting the impossible. I think your usual policy of not going to an indian is best. Don't pay me a visit either!!!!
