i have a chow chow pup who is 19 days old and since birth has been having boughts of what i call violent hiccups. he seems to be in a seizure type mode and they last about 15 minutes and happen about 5 times a day which in the last 2 days has dropped to 2 or so. but i havent been handling him and almost avoiding him and it is killing me to not be able to cuddle him which tends to send him into these episodes. his mouth is open and seems to somewhat be gasping for air. his back is arched and only mama can seem to calm him. has anyone ever encountered this b4 please help any info would be appriciated.....i believe this litter was a week premature and i also lost 4 of 7 to ???fading puppy syndrome???his eyes are finally opening and his brothers seem fine. he also has a much sweeter stench to his breath then your normal puppy breath. HELP?????

Has he been checked for cleft palate or megaesophogus? Get your vet to check him over, as these conditions will mean he is not thriving and will fall behind the others. If they find he has one of the conditions they can be treated, but it is not fair to leave him as he may get worse and die slowly.

Cleft palate means he won't be able to suckle properly and megaesophagus basically means he is taking air down the wrong hole, and food is going where the air should go, as there is a flap which is not closing properly.
