You peel the potatoes, cut them into chip shaped pieces and fry them. There are handy devices known as potato peelers and vegetable knives and human hands that do this.

Ahhhh but our 'Merican friends call *chips* what we know as crisps..... so lhenshey might be asking about crisps.... a totally different kettle of fish lol

best home made chips, good chip pan and make sure that when you have cut the potatoes into chips that you dry them with a clean tea towel before deep frying.
