I have visitors coming in the morning and i would like to serve them fresh scones. I wont have time to make them in the morning so would it be best to make the scone dough tonight and cook it in the morning or to cook them tonight and maybe warm them in the oven when they arrive.

If you don't have time to do them in the morning, bake them tonight and warm them through tomorrow.
You would if you got up at the crack of dawn at about 4am.
Weigh out everything tonight. Sieve dry ingredients, rub in butter etc, but do not wet the mix. In morning, turn on oven, add wet ingredients, egg, milk etc... roll, cut, pop in oven. Voila, fresh scones in minutes. Go on, impress your guests.
I think that's what I would do balliala.
Haven't tried that but have kept a bag of the dry mix in the 'fridge' ready to "wet 'n' roll" !
If you make the dough, the wetness will start the baking powder (either added separately or in the SR flour) start to work overnight instead of in the oven. Result is leaden scones. Mix dry ingredients and wet and roll on the morning or make the night before and reheat.
