If a recipe (Pork Knuckle) requests beer as a baste what beer would you use. Beer is used in my house as a term for lager, ale, bitter etc. I'm not sure which one the recipe is be refering to. Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks RR

I would assume it meant bitter.
Yes, bitter.
Just curious....is it an American recipe?

God bless you, you're all stars. Pastafreak, I think it's a German recipe.
ahhh...ok rocky. We yanks are not always so specific when it comes to defining 'beer'

By the way......my daughters favourite tow as a toddler was a fuzzy raccoon hand puppet we called rockyracoon.....she's 25,and still has him
if the recipe is German I would have thought Lager was the one to choose
